    BON JOVI!!!

    15/06/2006 00:40

    BON JOVI!!!

    VIVE BON JOVI!!!

And here's the summary of the longed-for BON JOVI concert taking place at The National Bowl in Milton Keynes!!!

It all started when Anita and myself arrived at Milton Keynes Central Station. It was boiling outside, so warm... There were already loads of people trying to sell tickets for the show (as if...) and a lot of signs for the National Bowl. We started making our way in but found out the gates would not open till 3.30pm. Therefore we decided to go for lunch beforehand. But Milton Keynes is just a crappy town! There was a sign for a McDonald's which we couldnt find at first and had to ask somebody who told us it was actually behind the Football stadium, GREAT! Well, at least we had a McFlurry which was very refreshing - we ought to have an ice-cream with this weather ;-)

We started heading for the National Bowl round 2.30-3pm, and there were already soooooo many people! Some of them had even set their tents the day before to make sure they were the first in the queue... Amazing!!

When getting inside the park Anita rushed to the woman selling the programme - actually it's a very nice book with beautiful pictures of the band on tour and in the studio. I had a look at it and decided to get one, too. I also wanted a t-shirt, but as soon as I saw the crowd I told myself "Nevermind, next time!". We had to find a spot first, I mean somewhere where we could see the stage. We actually found a place on the corner and we could actually see quite well. Anyway we couldn't get any closer as the best spots were reserved for the lucky ones who had purchased a Golden Circle or VIP ticket.

As we still had 3 hours to go I decided to go after the t-shirts (that was my biggest mission of the day). I really wanted one and better queue up for them than just stand on the spot till the concert began... It took me almost an hour to finally reach the people selling the soooooo longed-for t-shirts and it was so crowded that everybody was pushing me...grrrr!!! (Ki'y scratch!!!!) There were a lot of different patterns but I already knew the one I wanted.

The first supporting band (who actually won a competition organised by Bon Jovi themselves aiming to promote new rock bands) arrived at 6pm, and then Nickelback... They rocked, I love them! Chad (the singer) is brilliant! They sang all their hit songs and some that I had never heard at all.

And at last... after soooooo many hours waiting for them... Richie, Tico and David made their way to the stage... closely followed by Mister Jon Bon Jovi (and NOT Jon Bovi as Dale calls him!) He started by walking on that kinda bridge that linked the stage to another part of it and good for us, that bridge was in front of us, so can u imagine my excitement??!! Jon was sooooooooo gorgeous! I was literally spellbound...

The band really rocked all along (like they sing in their song "Wanted dead or alive": they've seen a million faces and they've rocked them all...) The sound was excellent and so was the giant screen. Jon is such a great entertainer who loves giving to his audience and likes to seduce them... He's so energetic that he was jumping and "dancing" (almost) all the time.

It was an unforgettable experience for me (given that I'd been a fan of theirs and above all of HIS since the age of...14!). It was truly a dream coming true. They sang a lot of their old songs: "Bad medicine", "U give love a bad name", "Livin on a prayer"......and new ones as well. I loved the atmosphere as everybody was singing along, dancing and putting their hands up in the air.

My only regret was that I didn't go on stage while some lucky people did... These lucky ones had bought a VIP ticket I reckon, so they had the chance of their lives, standing on the same stage as BON JOVI!!! Thus I promised myself next time they are on tour I would buy one of those magic tickets and perform a duet with my uncle...oooops..sorry I meant BON JOVI! (just a little private joke between Dale and I about Jon Bon Jovi being my uncle). For JBJ I'm ready to pay the price!!

And here is the set list of all the songs they played that night:

    LAST MAN STANDING
ROCKIN' ALL OVER THE WORLD (the John Fogerty classic made famous also by Status Quo)
YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME
CAPTAIN CRASH & THE BEAUTY QUEEN FROM MARS
    I'D DIE FOR YOU

    BORN TO BE MY BABY
    STORY OF MY LIFE
I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD (with bits of 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone' and 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' inserted into the song)
    RUNAWAY
THE RADIO SAVED MY LIFE TONIGHT
    IN THESE ARMS
    HAVE A NICE DAY
WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T GO HOME
    IT'S MY LIFE

    BELLS OF FREEDOM
I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU (electric version with Richie Sambora on lead vocals)
    COMPLICATED
BAD MEDICINE (with a tiny little bit of James Browns' "I Feel Good")
    RAISE YOUR HANDS
    LIVIN' ON A PRAYER

    ENCORE:

    Commentaire de Anita (19/06/2006 18:01) :

Hey Girl, I had such a great time at the Bon Jovi concert. They literally rocked... :D And as long as we were wanted dead or alive anyway, we just had one wild night and when we're just older we can read this part of the story of our lives.:D Greets Anita

    Commentaire de Ki'y (21/06/2006 11:50) :

Yeah, and in the next 100 years, we could still be livin' on a prayer. I'll sleep when I'm dead anyway, not before! And remember: if somebody annoys u just say HAVE A NICE DAY!! ;-) If I was ur mother I would tell u to live ur life EVERYDAY...

    Commentaire de Anita (24/06/2006 22:46) :

Hi, it's just me. I was staring at your (old) window and I was thinking that it's very quiet at the house these days. But it was 99 in the shade so I went inside. Anyway, when England is going to win tomorrow it's gonna be wild in the streets but I'm still living on a prayer for the Netherlands to make it to the 1/4 finals. But France is in the 2nd round so just keep the faith. Germany won from Sweden and I was thinking: Please, say it isn't so. But too bad. I hope tonight will be a silent night so I can sleep in my bed of roses. It's too bad I almost have to runaway, back to Holland but I'll always remember the fun we had at the Bon Jovi concert.

    Commentaire de Ki'y (27/06/2006 16:52) :

Hey there! Thanks for all those lovely messages u left. It's true, you're going back to Holland soon, but who says u can't go home? You'll be hearing the bells of freedom over there, and catch up with your family and friends in a two-story town! Will u be travelling on a boat or on the mystery train? Even if some people will say it's hard letting u go, u know u will always be welcome back! Here's some advice: never say goodbye... Take care and keep in touch girl! xx
