Salut tout le monde!!

Me revoila!! Desolee, j'ai mis du temps mais avec toutes les photos prises au Japon, ca faisait du boulot...

Bref, petite mise a jour donc: notre cher ami Goulven quitte Londres ce dimanche 10/9 et pour marquer le coup, il est donc venu passer une derniere soiree a Upminster. On est alles au pub local avec Dale et James, et on a passe un tres bon moment. Y avait une bonne ambiance, et on a bien rigole. Goulven et moi avons mange au pub, ils font de la bonne bouffe a pas trop cher, donc tout benef! Du coup, ca m'a cale et je ne buvais pas vite (surtout compare aux mecs!!). Ils me disaient donc de boire plus vite LOL, mais on ne peut pas me forcer... hehe

Donc on a essaye de faire le quizz comme d'hab, mais on etait un peu deconcentres... Donc on repondait quand on pouvait quoi. Apres on a aussi joue sur les machines a differents quizz: Qui veut gagner des millions, quizz facile, la roulette...

I'm back!! I know it's been a long time, but I've been so busy downloading my pics from Japan onto this blog... It took a while!

Anyway, here's the latest update live from London: Goulven is leaving London this Sunday, so we had to celebrate this by one last night out in Upminster. He and I, Dale and James went to the pub and had a very good time. There was a good atmosphere and we had a good laugh! Goulven and I had dinner at the pub - the food was very nice and relatively cheap, that was a good deal. But it was very filling so I drank very slowly - esp compared to the guys!! They told me to drink faster, but hey, you cannot force the Ki'y... hehe

So we tried to do the quizz as usual but we were rather distracted... so we just answered the questions when we actually could hear them... We also played at machine games: Who wants to be a millionnaire, another pub quizz and la roulette...

5 aout 2006: super fete d'anninversaire a Stratford (pas loin du centre de Londres) avec Jon, Weasel, Mush, Robert, Julie, Dale et cie...

Que je vous presente tout ce petit monde:

Jon: je l'ai connu a la fac d'Angers quand je faisais ma Maitrise et qu'il etait lecteur (comme Neil - je les ai connu en meme temps). On avait un peu perdu contact ces dernieres annees, et on s'est revus en juin dans un pub. Du coup, on se voit assez souvent maintenant.

Weasel: le mec de Jon (il s'appelle Jon lui aussi en vrai). Il veut que je lui apprenne le francais.

Mush: le Scottish, il est trop marrant! C'etait justement son anniversaire ce soir-la.

Robert: polonais, coloc de Weasel et Mush a Stratford.

Et voila! Bref, Dale, Julie et moi on s'est pointes a la soiree, c'etait trop delire. Tout le monde etait super bien deguise - sauf nous - dans le style annees 30. On a beaucoup rigole, bu (un peu trop?), danse, etc... D'ailleurs, cote musique les gars sont a fond dans les chansons made in France style Nadiya, Anggun, Mylene, Amine... On a donc eu droit en exclu a "Roc" de Nadiya - c'etait la premiere fois que je l'entendais - et on s'est dechaines dessus, avec des choregraphies de folie et la chanson a du passer au moins 10 fois dans la soiree... Non, non, j'ai rien a voir la-dedans! LOL Anggun a eu un beau succes aussi...

Et aussi, Mush voulait pas croire que j'etais francaise, il etait la "arrete de mentir, t'es pas francaise!!" Haha

Apres les gars voulaient absolument aller en boite, mais Dale et moi comme on habite loin on pouvait pas rentrer apres... Donc ils nous ont propose de rester chez eux vu que tout le monde dormait la de toute facon... On est donc tous partis en boite (gay). Bonne musique, bonne ambiance... jusqu'a ce strip-tease et show... gay... Dale et moi etions assez... hum... degoutes?

Bref, finalement Dale et moi sommes rentres en bus de nuit jusqu'a Romford puis avons essaye de trouver un taxi pour rentrer a Upminster. On a marche dans le froid, nazes, pendant 15 minutes avant d'en trouver un... Ouf!

August 5th 2006: great birthday party in Stratford (near Central London) featuring Jon, Weasel, Mush, Robert, Julie, Dale and more...

OK, let me introduce them:

Jon: I met him at the University of Angers when I was doing my Master's and he was teaching English (just like Neil - I met them at the same time). We kind of lost touch a few years ago, but we met in June in a pub and since then we've been in touch again!

Weasel: Jon's boyfriend (His real name is Jon as well). He wants me to teach him French.

Mush: Sco'ish guy! He's so funny! That was his birthday party actually.

Robert: Polish guy, Weasel and Mush's flatmate in Stratford.

Done! So Dale, Julie and I got to the party and that was so much fun. Everybody was dressed up in the 30's style - except from us. We had a good laugh, drank (too much?) and danced... Those guys are really keen on French artists like Nadiya, Anggun, Mylene, Amine... So we had the privilege to listen to "Roc" by Nadiya - I didn't know the song then - and we made up some sort of choreography, some crazy one, and we played the song at least 10 times or so... Nooo, I didn't have anything to do with it... LOL Anggun was very successful, too.

One funny thing is that Mush didn't believe me when I said I was French, he went "No, it's not true, you're not French!!" Haha

Afterwards the guys wanted to go clubbing, but Dale and I couldn't go as there were no more buses/trains running to Upminster. So they said we could stay at theirs as anyway everyone was gonna spend the night there. So we all went to that gay club "The White Swan". Good music, good atmosphere... until that gay strip-tease and show... Dale and I were quite... errm... shocked?

Eventually Dale and I ended up getting a night bus to Romford from where we could then get a cab to Upminster. We walked in the cold, completely knackered, for about 15 min before finding a cab. Pffffff!

28 juillet: on se lève à 5H15 du mat'!!! On doit aller à la gare et ça risque de nous prendre du temps. On avait pensé à plusieurs solutions pour s'y rendre: taxi (mais on savait pas où les chercher/à quel numéro appeler), à pattes... ou en scooter! On a testé en scooter: moi à l'arrière avec mon sac roulant juste à côté de moi!!! Imaginez le comique de la situation! Bizarre, marrant, et efficace! Bon, c'est sûr, s'il y avait eu beaucoup de circulation, on n'aurait pas pu. Mais à cette heure-là il n'y avait pas un chat...

Arrivées à la gare - avec de l'avance du coup - on va dans un combini histoire que je m'achète quelques trucs à grignoter pour le trajet. Puis, c'est l'heure des au revoir!!  Je monte donc dans le bus qui va mettre 3 heures pour arriver à l'aéroport.

Une fois à Narita Airport, j'effectue mon check-in, contrôle passeport puis j'attends un peu avant l'embarquement.

J'ai trouvé que l'avion était moins confortable cette fois, et j'ai eu du mal à me sentir bien à mon aise. J'ai dormi un peu, lu, écouté de la musique...
Puis arrivée à Moscou... les gens toujours aussi aimables!!! Bref, je dois poireauter 2H30 avant d'embarquer!!! Pfff.....

L'avion pas du tout confortable, j'ai du mal à étaler mes jambes et me reposer... Ce trajet retour m'a paru beaucoup plus long que l'aller et moins confortable.

Arrivée à Heathrow... Je dois prendre le métro pour rentrer, et quelle galère!!! Trop de monde sur le quai, et on se retrouve serrés comme un sac à patate dans le "tube"...

J'arrive à Upminster vers minuit 30, trop naze... Direct au dodo, mais j'ai du mal à m'endormir... Je vais souffrir du décalage horaire pendant 3 jours avant de bien dormir...

BILAN DE MON SEJOUR AU PAYS DU SOLEIL LEVANT:

Le Japon c'est tout simplement MAGNIFIQUE!!! Le pays est superbe, il y a des paysages incroyables, aussi différents les uns des autres.

Les gens sont très aimables et polis. Très accueillants et c'est super flatteur pour les touristes. Les Japonais sont super relax, zen, et je crois qu'on devrait prendre un peu exemple sur eux. Je vous raconte même pas le choc culturel quand je suis revenue à Londres: ça n'a rien à voir! Les gens sont tous pressés, stressés... ils ne sourient pas.

Les rues sont propres. Même Tokyo m'a impressionné sur ce coup-là, ca n'est pas sale!

Le transport: les trains sont spacieux, ainsi que le métro. Ils mettent l'air conditionné partout et ça fait trop du bien. Confortables.

C'est clair, j'espere revenir au Japon un jour, y a tellement de choses a decouvrir et 12 jours ca passe trop vite! J'aimerais beaucoup aller a Hiroshima, Bea m'a raconte que c'etait super joli et emouvant en meme temps... Et puis il y a tout pleins d'autres paysages a decouvrir: la mer, les forets, la montagne...

Mais bon, j'ai aussi le projet de visiter d'autres pays (Australie, Canada et USA), donc je crois que je ne retournerai pas tout de suite au Japon. En tout cas, pour mon premier voyage hors Europe c'est une reussite et une sacree experience! J'ai enfin mis les pieds en Asie...

July 28th: we woke up at 5.15am!!! We had to go to the station and we knew it would take some time, so that's the reason why we had to wake up so early! We had thought of different ways to get there: take a cab (but where to find them at this time of day? and what phone number?), walk or... take the scooter! Well, we chose the scooter: me at the back with my bag rolling on its wheels next to me!!! Can u imagine the situtation? Weird, funny, but efficient! Of course, we wouldn't have done it if there had been a lot of traffic. But at this time of day there was nobody in the streets...

We arrived at the station a bit early so we went to a combini so I could buy a few snacks for my journey. Then it was time to say bye bye!  I got on the bus which took 3 hours to arrive at the airport.

Once at Narita Airport, I did my check-in, got through passport control, and then waited for like 40 min before boarding. It was ok, I didn't have to wait for too long.

The journey back home was less comfy as I didn't feel really at ease on the plane. I tried to sleep a bit, read and listen to music ...

Then we stopped in Moscow and as usual the people were so nice!!! I'm being sarcastic of course! I had to wait 2 hours and a half before boarding, which was sooooo long...

The plane was not comfy at all, I hardly had any room to stretch my legs... So it was hard to relax. The return journey seemed like an eternity compared to my journey in.

Arrival at Heathrow: I had to take the tube to go back home... There were so many people on the platform waiting for a train that we were literally squeezed on the tube!

I finally got to Upminster at 12.30am, exhausted... I went to bed straight away, but didn't manage to get much sleep. In fact I had jetlag for 3 days before I could sleep properly again...

CONCLUSION ON MY TRIP TO JAPAN:

Japan is just an AMAZING country!!! It's beautiful, the landscapes are incredible, all very different from each other.

The people are very nice and polite. Very welcoming. It's just a bliss for us tourists. The Japanese are so relaxed and peaceful I think we have things to learn from them. Just imagine the cultural shock I went through when getting back to London: the people are stressed, in a hurry... and never smile

Japan is clean. Even the streets of Tokyo impressed me as they were not dirty...

Transport: trains and the metro are spacious and comfortable. Basically they put the air conditioning everywhere so it's quite pleasant.

I'll definitely go back some day as there are oh so many things to see in this country. My 12 days went by too quickly and I would have loved to visit other places. Next time I'd like to go to Hiroshima as Bea told me it's very pretty and also full of history and emotion... And I wanna see other landscapes like the sea, the mountains, the forests...

However, I also plan to go and visit many other countries (Australia, Canada, the USA), so I won't go back to Japan immediately. Nevertheless, for my first step outside Europe, Japan was definitely a great choice and an unforgettable experience. Finally I can say I've been to Asia...
