Aujourd'hui je suis allée rejoindre ma copine Melissa et une amie à elle à South Woodford, dans le nord-est de Londres (où elles habitent en fait) pour voir MUSIC & LYRICS. C'est le nouveau film de Hugh Grant, avec Drew Barrymore. L'histoire: le personnage de Hugh Grant est un ancien membre du boyband POP très connu ds les années 80. Une jeune chanteuse du style Britney lui demande de lui écrire une chanson dans les jours qui suivent. Il doit décrocher ce contrat s'il veut relancer sa carrière. Malheureusement, il est doué pour les mélodies mais n'arrive pas à écrire les paroles. Un jour, il rencontre le personnage joué par Drew Barrymore et se rend compte qu'elle est plutôt douée avec les mots... Ils vont donc s'atteler à l'écriture de la chanson... et se rapprocher...

Voilà, une sympathique comédie romantique comme on les aime, avec des acteurs super attachants et des chansons super entraînantes!! La BO est géniale et vous donne la pêche! A VOIR!

P.S.: grande nouvelle, Hugh Grant est de nouveau célibataire! De quoi réjouir Melissa qui est complètement dingue de lui... Alors après Jemima, why not Melissa, Hugh??

Today I  met up with my friend Melissa and a friend of hers in South Woodford, in North-East London (that's actually where they both live). We saw MUSIC & LYRICS, the new film starring Hugh Grant, with Drew Barrymore. Here's the story: Hugh Grant 's character is a former popstar who rose to fame with the boyband POP in the 80s. When the current princess of pop (the new Britney Spears) asks him to write her a song, he knows he must get this job if he wants to make a comeback. Unfortunately he's never been good at lyrics even though he can easily come up with nice melodies. Luckily for him he meets Drew Barrymore's character and realises she is definitely gifted with words... They will thus start working together to create this new song which should be ready in a few days... and they will get closer...

It's a very nice rom com, a feelgood movie, just what we needed, with great actors and catchy tunes!!! The soundtrack is brilliant and makes you chipper chipper!!! A must-see!!

P.S.: big news, Hugh Grant is single again! This made the day of my friend Melissa who is literally crazy about him... So, after Jemima why not Melissa, Hugh??

Le weekend du 26-28 janvier, je suis allée rendre visite à Neil qui habite maintenant à Cheltenham. On ne s'était pas vus depuis la Halloween Party donc c'était super de le revoir!

Je suis arrivée le vendredi soir et on est direct allés dans un pub rejoindre des amis à lui. Puis de retour chez lui, dans une maison qu'il partage avec 4 autres personnes, on a discuté et regardé un film. Grande maison, plutôt pas mal.

Le lendemain on est allés à Bourton-on-the-Water qui est située dans les Cotswolds, dans la superbe campagne anglaise. C'était super de revenir là, car en effet j'étais déjà passée à Bourton il y a 5 ans quand j'étais assistante de français à Croydon. Twinnette et Jéjé, j'imagine que ça vous rappelle des souvenirs??! :-)

C'est donc un petit village avec un pont et une rivière qui passe en-dessous, des petites boutiques artisanales, salons de thé... C'est super mignon et ça change vraiment de Londres!!

De retour à Cheltenham, on est allés se promener un peu dans la ville. Y a même un quartier qui s'appelle Montpellier, trop fort!!!

On est allés au pub prendre un verre puis des amis à lui sont venus nous chercher pour nous emmener au resto thai. C'était tout simplement DE-LI-CIEUX!!! J'étais jamais allée dans un resto comme ça: déco magnifique avec des cascades, de la musique traditionnelle, enfin bref, le resto était immense et super impressionnant!! Et la nourriture était superbe aussi. Une super expérience!

Après ça on a rejoint un autre pote à Neil dans un pub où on a fini la soirée.

Le lendemain, je repartais donc on n'a pas fait grand chose. Le weekend était en tout cas super sympa et Cheltenham est une ville fort agréable. Je pense que je reviendrai!!

On the weekend of  Jan 26th-28th I went to visit my friend Neil who is now living in Cheltenham. We hadn't seen each other since the Halloween Party in London, so it was really cool to catch up with him!!

I arrived on the Friday night and we went to the pub straight away to meet up with some friends of his. We then went back to his home -  a big house which he shares with 4 other people. We chatted for a while and watched a bit of telly.

The day after we went to Bourton-on-the-Water, in the Cotswolds. It was great going back as indeed I had already been there 5 years ago when I was teaching French in Croydon. Twinette and Jeje, I bet this brings back memories??! ;-)

Bourton is a little village in the beautiful English countryside and it has a little bridge with a stream running down underneath - and also small antique shops, tea rooms... It's sooo lovely and it's such a big change compared to London!!

Back in Cheltenham we went for a walk and Neil just showed me the place. There's even an area called Montpellier, unbelievable!!!

We then went to the pub and later on some friends came to pick us up and drove us to a Thai restaurant. It was absolutely fantastic! I'd never been to such a great place before... The deco was amazing, with a waterfall at the entrance and traditional music playing all the time. The place was huge and very impressive. And the food was lovely... A must!

Later on we went to another pub and caught up with more friends of Neil's. We had a couple of drinks and that was it.

I was leaving on the Sunday so we didn't do much. Neil took me back to the coach station and that was it! I had a very nice weekend and Cheltenham is a lovely place. I'll definitely go back!!!

Le weekend dernier, je suis allée voir Dreamgirls avec une amie. Le film est excellent, j'ai vraiment adoré.

Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas (je sais pas si c'est déjà sorti en France?), c'est basé sur l'histoire de Diana Ross et des Supremes. Beyoncé joue donc le rôle de Deena (doppelgänger de Diana Ross), qui va devenir LA star du groupe et finalement faire une carrière solo.
J'ai adoré le jeu des acteurs, ils sont tous excellents et leurs performances vocales sont louables.

Jennifer Hudson est géniale, son personnage est vraiment attachant, et Eddie Murphy et Jamie Foxx sont supers aussi. Bref, un bon film où on ne s'ennuit pas et qui vous donne envie de bouger avec ses chansons très entraînantes...

Last weekend I went to the cinema with a friend to see Dreamgirls. It was brilliant, I loved it.

For those of you who may not have heard of it, it is based on the story of Diana Ross and The Supremes. Beyoncé plays the part of Deena (a doppelgänger for Diana Ross) who will eventually become the star in the band and begin a solo career.

I really admire the actors' performances, esp the singing part.

Jennifer Hudson is just great and her character is one of the best. Eddie Murphy and Jamis Foxx are really good too. In a word, it's a good movie which will nerver get you bored but on the opposite it's very entertaining and full of catchy music to make you dance!

Coucou les amis, me revoilà!

Après les vacs de Noël, il faut dire que les choses sont passées à une vitesse folle. Pour commencer, au boulot j'ai été super débordée vu que pendant mon absence, il n'y a eu aucun suivi des commandes/expéditions, emails des clients etc. La première semaine je suis donc restée à travailler tard tous les soirs... Puis je suis tombée malade, ce qui n'a pas arrangé les choses... Surtout que pendant ce temps-là, mon boss était en Allemagne. Bref, j'ai été absente pdt 3 jours et je me sentais vraiment mal... J'ai ensuite repris des forces et suis revenue au boulot.

J'ai demandé à mon Office Manager de me trouver une nouvelle collègue vu que la situation devenait impossible, ça a mis du temps à être approuvé mais finalement il m'a dit ok. Bon, à ce jour je n'ai toujours pas de collègue et ça commence à bien faire! Surtout que oh grosse frayeur la semaine dernière, mon boss me sort que finalement ce n'est peut-être pas l'idéal de prendre qqn en ce moment - notre maison mère et fournisseurs ont de gros problèmes financiers ce qui nous met dans une situation difficile. En gros, cela nous affecte de plus en plus et notre cashflow risque de ne plus trop aller... Bref, vu les heures supp - non payées bien sûr - que je fais pour moi la sitution est claire: vous me trouvez quelqu'un tout de suite!

Bon, en ce qui concerne les sorties, je m'éclate toujours autant avec ma bande de potes loufoques. Le taf de Jon avait même organisé une super soirée où Jon justement faisait le DJ pendant qqs heures... Trop bien.

Vous vous demandez sûrement "pourquoi cette photo?"... C'est facile. En fait, j'ai décidé de rebaptiser Mush "Mushu", le dragon de Mulan quoi, vu que JE SUIS MULAN! Et cela va encore plus loin, on a formé MUMU, un groupe de rock!!!! Yeah!!! (bon, le premier single est toujours en attente d'être écrit... LOL)

Autre news: le frère de Jon, Jez (ou Jeremy), super sympa au passage, est arrivé à Londres y a un mois maintenant et y a aussi un pote à lui, un français du nom de Cédric. Donc ça fait des nvelles connaissances!

Le weekend dernier je suis allée avec eux au GAY, une boîte... gay, oui, ça porte bien son nom hein LOL, et on a trop bien dansé (jusqu'à 3h du mat au moins!!) et la musique était super cheesy, c'était excellent (style vieux tubes des S Club 7 et hits actuels comme Justin...)

Hey guys, I'm back!

After my Xmas holiday, I have to say things started going really crazy at work. I was overloaded with emails, paperwork and so on. The reason is nobody took over while I was away... So when I got back I usually stayed behind very late. Then I was taken ill so missed work for a couple of days, and in the meantime my boss was in Germany... Thus things got really worse and I was a bit worried too as I felt really sick and awful. Then I recovered and got back to work... such a mess!!

I asked my Office Manager if we could start looking for a replacement for Irina given that the situation for me was getting out of control, I could barely cope with the workload... It took a while for the decision to be approved of, but eventually we got the go ahead. But up to today I still haven't got any colleague, you see... it's really pissing me off!! Esp as last week my boss gave me some really bad news: he basically said that it might not be the right time to recruit sdy at the moment because the situation in Malaysia - our head office and suppliers -  was getting worse, with a lot of financial problems. To sum it up their problems are affecting us too as our cashflow might get lower and lower if we have to pay for the goods up front.

Anyway considering I've been working overtime without getting paid for this, for me the situation was clear: something had to be done and they had to recruit sdy in to help me!

As far as my social life in London is concerned, I'm still having loads and loads of fun with my guys in Stratford. Jon's company organised a party a few weeks ago and Jon DJayed for about 3 hours... it was really cool!

Now you're asking me "why did u put this picture?". Well, the reason is very simple: I decided to give Mush a new nickname, "Mushu" in reference to Mulan's dragon, since I AM MULAN!! And we even started our own rock band, MUMU!!! Yeah!!!!(well, the first single is yet to be released... LOL)

News: Jon's brother, Jez (or Jeremy), has just arrived in London and he's really cool too! A friend of his, a French guy called Cédric, also arrived a month ago. So I've got more people to hang out with!

Last  weekend we went to the GAY .... a gay club. Well, yeah, the name is pretty obvious! We danced a lot! (till about 3am!) The music was very cheesy, it was brilliant (they played old songs by S Club 7 and more recent hits like Justin...)

Vendredi 29 déc au soir, Maguy et Michel viennent nous voir - c'était le seul moment où l'on pouvait se retrouver. On dîne et on discute, histoire de se raconter nos p'tites vies.

Samedi 30 déc: shopping avec Béa et maman. Puis l'aprem, on passe chercher les p'tites cousines Marina et Kelly pour aller chez Sabi. On a bien déliré!! Entre music, concert Shania Twain, délires Walt Disney et manga... Les p'tites sont vraiment adorables!

Dimanche 31 déc: avec Béa on passe un réveillon tranquilou en tête à tête LOL On mange bien et on se mate la télé, des DVDs, on écoute de la bonne zic...

Lundi 1er janvier: c'est la nouvelle année! Papa et moi on raccompagne Béa à la gare d'Angers pour qu'elle puisse prendre son train jusqu'à Paris où elle va rejoindre Adil. Papa et moi allons ensuite chez mamie à La Chapelle sur Erdre (Nantes).

Mardi 2 janvier: ça y est, les vacs sont finies, il est temps de rentrer à Londres!!

Friday 29th Dec: Maguy and Michel came for dinner in the evening. We had some nice Vietnamese soup and we talked a lot of course. It was nice to catch up with them as usual!

Saturday 30th Dec: I went shopping with Béa and mum. And in the afternoon we picked up Marina and Kelly, our li'l cousins (Sabi's sisters) and went to Sabi's. It was a fun day! Listening to some cheesy music, watching Shania Twain's concert in Chicago, giggling about Walt Disney and other great cartoons... These girls are sooo lovely... and lively!

Sunday 31th Dec: Béa and I had a quiet NYE, nothing really special, but it was just great to be together. We had a very nice dinner, listened to our fave music, watched some telly and DVDs.

Monday 1st Jan: that's it, we're in 2007!! Dad and I drove Béa to Angers so she could catch her train to Paris where she was to meet Adil. Dad and I then drove to La Chapelle sur Erdre (Nantes) to pay my granny a visit.

Tuesday 2nd Jan: oh no, my Xmas holiday are over now, time to go back to London!!
