Après avoir fait un tour à Ueno, nous voici donc dans les rues de Tokyo... C'est impressionnant! Comme vous pouvez le voir, les rues sont bondées de monde, et les grands buildings dominent partout... C'est une sacrée expérience la capitale nippone!

After taking a walk round Ueno, here we are in the busy streets of Tokyo... Very impressive! As you can see the streets are crowded and the big buildings stand out... To be here in Tokyo is definitely an amazing and unique experience!

Arrivées chez Beniko, je commets ma première gaffe... LOL Pourtant c'est un truc tout bête que je savais depuis longtemps: enlever ses chaussures en entrant chez un habitant japonais!! Mais moi, tranquille, je commence à marcher dans son appart avec mes chaussures!!! Waouh, ma soeur m'a direct réprimandé: "hey! enlèves tes shoes!!" Oooops... Désolée j'avais zappé!! Mais bon, ça va, c'est Beniko et elle est très ouverte, elle a passé un an en France voire plus, et n'a pas été choquée! Au contraire, elle en a même rit!

Bref, après une bonne douche, on se dirige vers un "family restaurant". En fait, ce sont des restos à l'américaine, pas typique jap car ils servent un peu de tout. En général ils sont pas trop chers. On est donc allées chez Jonathan's et j'ai pris mon premier repas jap. Ah oui, petite anecdote. Avant d'aller au resto, vu la chaleur, Béa et moi on s'est achetées des sodas dans un distributeur (ils en ont partout là-bas, à tous les coins de rue, hallucinant!). On avait pas fini en entrant dans le resto, et donc en s'installant à notre table, le serveur nous dit qu'on n'a pas le droit de consommer nos cannettes... Beniko lui demande donc "ben on fait comment alors?" Et devinez quoi??? Trop gentil le serveur, il nous sort "ben je peux les mettre dans le frigo en attendant"!!!!!!!!!!!! On s'y attendait pas et on a bien rigolé, en France on aurait jamais vu ça!

Bref, après avoir repris des forces, on se dirige vers Ueno Park pour visiter le zoo et le parc, malheureusement le zoo était fermé quand on est arrivées! Y avait aussi le festival du sake.... Hum, intéressant, non?

Ci-dessus une Tori (porte située à l'entrée des temples shintoistes). J'en ai vu pleins tout le long de mon séjour...

Once at Beniko's I made my first blunder... LOL Yet I'd known this for a while so I should have been more careful: always remove your shoes when you walk in in a Japanese home!! But instead I casually walked in with my shoes on... Waouh, Bea immediately told me off: "Hey! Take your shoes off!!!" Oooops.... Sorry, I'd completely forgotten!! But everything was fine since we were at Beniko's and she's very open-minded, lived in France for a year - or even more - and she wasn't too shocked! It was the other way round actually, she even laughed!!

After a nice shower, we headed towards a "family restaurant". In fact they differ from typical Japanese-style restaurants as they serve non traditional food and kind of copy the American-style restaurants. They're not too pricey, so quite interesting. So we went to that Jonathan's place and that's where I had my first meal in Japan!

Ah... for your info: before going to the restaurant as it was damn hot Bea and I bought some drinks from a vending machine (you can find them on the corner of every street, it's amazing!!). Upon entering Jonathan's we hadn't finished them, so while taking our seats the waiter came to us and told us we were not allowed to have them in here... So Beniko asked him "What do we do then?" And guess what??? The waiter was so kind, he said "Well, I can put them in the fridge for you in the meantime"!!!!!!!! We hadn't expected this at all so we ended up laughing; in France you would never have seen that!

After this nice meal, we made our way towards Ueno Park to see a zoo and a park. Unfortunately the zoo was closed! The Sake Festival was also taking place over there... Errrm, interesting, no?

Konnichiwa!!!

Eh oui, je viens enfin vous raconter mes supers vacances au Japon! Que de choses à vous faire partager, je ne sais par où commencer!!

Tout a démarré le samedi 15 juillet quand j'ai du me lever à 5H30 du mat pour aller à l'aéroport de Heathrow (à l'opposé de là où j'habite!). Bref, après check-in, contrôle passeport, boutiques duty free et cie, j'étais prête à monter dans l'avion! Mais ô surprise quand j'ai vu la taille du bolide! Tout petit comme un ryanair quoi, donc je me suis dit "aïe, ça risque d'être chaud de voyager 13h comme ça!" Mais en fait, non, à Moscou, on a troqué pour un boeing!! Ouf...

La première partie du trajet s'est bien passée, repas pas trop mal, puis arrivée à Moscou, et là OUAH quelle chaleur!!! Et franchement l'accueil des Russes à l'aéroport laisse carrément à désirer... J'étais sidérée!!! Style je demande où je dois aller pour effecteur mon transfert et la nana me répond "I don"t know" d'un air super condescendant et sec! Ca commence bien...

Deuxième avion: plus spacieux même si on n'a pas eu droit aux écrans télé, films etc. Mais le staff était déjà carrément plus sympa (on sent la différence!). Bref, après le "dîner", j'ai essayé de dormir un peu, et puis 1H30 avant d'arriver à Tokyo, on nous réveille pour une sorte de "petit déj".

10H30: atterrissage!!!!!!!! Ouah, ça y est, je suis au Japon!!!!!!!! Quelle chaleur quand on sort de l'avion, quelle différence de température, on sent déjà le climat humide. Même si le ciel est couvert, il crève de chaud!

Bref, après avoir récupéré ma valise, passé la douane etc, j'aperçois ma p'tite soeur!!!!! Yeah!!! Les retrouvailles!!! On prend donc un train pour Tokyo (l'aéroport est assez loin finalement, il faut compter 1H de train). Ma première expérience donc dans un train japonais! Bonne impression: spacieux, air conditionné, propre...

On arrive à Shinbashi où on doit rejoindre la copine de ma soeur, Beniko. C'est elle qui nous logera pour la nuit. Entre-temps on rencontre un péruvien venu gentillement nous accoster (entre "gaijin"!!! ça veut dire étranger en jap). Il nous demande d'où on vient, et après nous invite à une fête pour la journée nationale du Pérou apparemment. Malheureusement, on a d'autres plans...

Arrive Beniko et on va direct chez elle à Onarimon pour poser nos affaires.

Ca y est, je suis bel et bien à Tokyo!!!

Yeah, at last here I am! Let me tell you all about my great holiday in Japan! I've got so many things to share with you that I don't even know where to start!

It all began on July 15th when I woke up at 5.30am to get to Heathrow - which is in the opposite direction from where I live! After a 2-hour journey on the tube, I did my check-in, went through the passport control, had a look around in the duty-free shops and was ready to get on the plane! But oh what a bad surprise when I saw the size of the plane! Very small - just like a Ryanair plane - so I told myself "ouch! It's gonna be a tough journey sitting there for 13 hours!" But in fact, once in Moscow we changed planes!! Such a relief...

The first part of the journey went well; the meal was ok and then we landed in Moscow, but oh boy it was boiling in there!!! And to be honest Russian pepople at the airport were not welcoming at all... I was shocked!! For instance I asked where I should go for my transfer and that woman snapped at me with a patronising attitude "I don't know"! Well, thanks very much for your help... Nice start!

The second plane was much more comfy and spacious even though we didn't have any screen to watch movies. But the staff was much nicer (you can definitely tell the difference!). After "dinner" I tried to sleep and one hour and a half before landing in Tokyo we were woken up by the staff to have our so-called breakfast...

10.30am: landing!!!!!!!! Waouh, that's it, I'm in Japan!!!!!!!  We got out of the plane and I was gobsmacked at the boiling weather. You can tell the difference in temperature - yep, this is a humid climate. Even though it was cloudy and not sunny at all, it was still very hot!

After passing by the baggage reclaim, the customs, and so on I catch a glimpse of my lil' sister!!!! Yeah!!!! Reunion!!!! We then take a train to Tokyo (the airport is not so close, it takes an hour by train). This is my first experience in a Japanese train and a good one! Spacious, clean and they have air conditioning.

We arrive at Shinbashi where we have to meet up with Beniko, my sister's friend. We're going to stay at hers for the night. In the meantime we meet a Peruvian guy who kindly came to us (of course, we're all "gaijin"!!! It means foreigner in Japanese). He asks us where we come from and then invite us to this party to celebrate a Peruvian national holiday. Unfortunately we already have plans...

Beniko arrives and we go straight to her place at Onarimon to drop our luggage.

That's it, I'm really in Tokyo now!!!
