Keiko et Masami parlent un peu anglais, donc ça va, je ne suis pas perdue!

Okonomiyaki est le plat japonais préféré de Béa, donc je m'attends à un truc super... finalement, je suis un peu déçue... MAIS je goûterai de nouveau à okonomiyaki à Kofu et là, ouah, je trouve ça succulent!

Keiko and Masami speak English a little bit, so everything's ok, I'm not lost!

Okonomiyaki is Bea's fave Japanese dish, so of course I expect it to be really good! But I'm a bit disappointed... WAIT! I had okonimyaki again in Kofu and this time I LOVED it!!!

23 juillet: on effectue notre check-out à l'auberge et on va prendre un petit déj au Starbucks histoire d'être en forme pour la journée!

On prend le train pour Osaka (1H de trajet) et on rejoint Keiko et Masami pour l'heure du déjeuner. Keiko est la corres japonaise de Béa et biensûr elles ont pu se voir pour de vrai à plusieurs reprises! Masami est une collègue et amie de Keiko.

On part donc manger okonomiyaki toutes ensemble. C'est la spécialité de la ville!

July 23rd: we did our check-out at the youth hostel and then had breakfast at the Starbucks.

We took a train to Osaka (a one-hour journey) and met up with Keiko and Masami at lunchtime. Keiko has been Bea's penpal for a while now and of course they had the opportunity to meet up a few times in Japan. Masami is a colleague and friend of Keiko's.

All together we went for okonomiyaki, which is a specialty of Osaka!

On prend à nouveau le bus (y avait un groupe de jeunes français venus ici pour les manga, on dirait!) et on se rend à l'auberge de jeunesse pour déposer tous nos achats. Puis, on va à la gare pour manger. On se décide pour une pizzeria pour changer! On est en fait assises à côté d'un vieux couple de français. A un moment, gros malentendu car le monsieur avait commandé une glace apparemment, et la serveuse lui a apporté une boisson à la place. Alors là, il commence à mal lui parler et en français en plus (comme si elle pouvait comprendre, la pauvre!). Ensuite, une fois qu'elle est partie, il dit à sa femme "elle pourrait parler anglais au moins!"... Euh, m'sieur, faudrait peut-être te regarder avant et voir si TOI tu es capable de parler ne serait-ce qu'un mot d'anglais!!! Et il en rajoute en faisant style "bon, je sais que mon japonais est limité mais quand même"... Dis tout de suite que tu ne sais pas parler japonais! Franchement, avec Béa on se regarde et on est dégoûtées de se retrouver à côté de ces deux-là! Aucun respect pour les autres! S'ils sont pas contents, ils n'ont qu'à apprendre le jap au lieu de se plaindre. Ca nous fait honte d'être françaises tout d'un coup...

Bref, le resto était bien sinon. On a bien mangé.

 PS: sur la photo vous pouvez voir ce que nous on voyait devant chaque resto. Reproduction en plastique des différents plats. Pas bête, non? Ca permet de voir à quoi les plats ressemblent avant de commander.

We took the bus again to go to the youth hostel and drop our shopping - there was a group of young French people who'd come here especially for manga or so it seemed! Then we went to the station to have some food (we know the good places!) and chose an Italian restaurant for a change. We found ourselves sitting next to an old French couple. At some point there was a misunderstanding as apparently the man had ordered ice-creams and the waitress came back with cold drinks. He started being rude and talking to her in French (as if!) and then complained to his wife: "she could speak English at least!" Well, you'd better look at yourself in the first place and see if YOU can speak a single word of English or Japanese! And then he added "i know my Japanese is basic, but still..." U'd better say you cannot speak Japanese at all, come on! Bea and I exchanged glances and we were so cross to be next to those idiots! They don't have any respect for anyone. If they're not happy, they'd better learn English and Japanese and see how they do... At that particular moment we really felt ashamed to be French...

Anyway, the food was very good and we enjoyed our meal all the same.

PS: on the picture you can see exactly what we saw in front of every single restaurant. Food displays made of plastic. Clever, innit? It allowed us to have a precise idea of what the dishes looked like.

On s'apprêtait à descendre du temple quand on aperçoit ces maiko - apprenties geisha. Mais en regardant de plus près, on se rend compte que ce sont en fait des gaijin (étrangers)!!! Tu parles, on s'est bien fait avoir!!

Note: sur la photo, ce sont bel et bien des VRAIES maiko. En fait, je ne voulais pas prendre de photo des imposteurs, donc à la place j'ai "emprunté" cette photo que Béa avait prise quand elle était venue à Kyoto un peu plus tôt.

On our way out of the temple we met these maiko - they are apprentice geisha. Taking a closer look at them, we thought they looked weird... In fact they were gaijin (foreigners), not real Japanese maiko!!! That was such a disappointment and a deception!!!

Note: on the picture, they ARE proper Japanese maiko. I just could'nt take a picture of the fake ones so I "borrowed" this photo from Bea's folder when she went to Kyoto earlier on.

Comme je vous le disais, admirez cette vue sur la ville de Kyoto. C'est super joli, mais en même temps on voit à quel point la pollution envahit le paysage...

As I mentioned earlier, here is a nice view of Kyoto. It's pretty cool, but at the same time you can clearly see how polluted it is...
